Free School Supplies

“Without the support of Project Success, many students in our school would start the year without the supplies they need to be successful learners.” – Elementary Principal – Decatur Public Schools

In early August, our annual school supplies distribution at First Presbyterian Church provided 1800 needy students with the basic supplies to start school ready to learn. Thanks to ADM’s Helping Hands, Boys and Girls Club, Golden K, Busey Bank, and ABWA for their generous support of this important community project!

Each year as school begins in August, Project Success coordinates distribution of basic school supplies for needy children in cooperation with area churches, businesses, and service providers. Each bag of supplies helps prepare these children to start the school year ready to learn on that important first day of school. Students receive crayons, pencils, rulers, folders, paper, pencil boxes, glue, erasers and – as available – much needed back packs.

Project Success also provides school supplies to area homeless children. Back packs with age appropriate supplies are assembled to give to these students as our staff works to see that they are enrolled in school.

We anticipate the 2011 cost to purchase the basic school supplies needed at approximately $6,000.  The value of the project to the children served is priceless.  If you, your business, church or organization would like to help support our School Supplies Project to help needy children,  please call 421-8074 or email jane@projsuccess.org
